Freedom from discrimination, inclusive education, and access to healthcare and employment opportunities are critical to ensuring that people with disabilities can fully participate in their communities and economies. In 2006, the global community adopted the U.N. Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CPRD), a landmark human rights treaty affirming these and other fundamental rights for the over one billion people around the world living with some form of disability. To mark the 10th anniversary of the CRPD, WORLD released new data, maps, and factsheets to examine progress toward establishing equal rights on the basis of disability worldwide.
