Advancing gender equality across society requires that governments take steps to ensure all women have access to equal opportunities and dignity at work, and that their work is equally valued. At the same time, women’s labor force participation and pay continue to lag behind men’s, and workplace sexual harassment remains widespread.
In order to achieve gender equality, leaders at the global, national, and local levels in diverse countries around the world are working to advance equality and non-discrimination in employment. In support of these ongoing efforts, the WORLD Policy Analysis Center (WORLD) has updated and expanded our systematic analytical work on detailed prohibitions of workplace discrimination for all 193 United Nations member states.
Additionally, WORLD’s interactive global policy maps now feature legislative excerpts for every country, to accompany indicators on legislative prohibitions of gender-based discrimination and sexual harassment at the workplace. These findings, data tools, and multi-lingual excerpts are designed and released to support global partnerships and multilateral work undertaken to advance gender equality in workplaces in every country around the world.
