Short-term Paid Sick Leave was released in May 2020 amidst the global community’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. These findings, published in the journal Global Public Health, assess comprehensive design of short-term paid sick leave laws at the national level. Areas addressed include: availability of leave from the first day of illness, adequacy of duration and wage replacement rates of leave for newly hired and long-time employees alike, provision, and guarantees to self-employed and part-time workers.
