Uraia Trust provides civic education and empowers Kenyans to realize their constitutional aspirations. Uraia’s remarkable work to popularize the Kenyan constitution and give citizens tools to exercise their constitutional rights is inspirational.
WORLD has been thrilled to partner together with the Uraia team over the years on a breadth of initiatives, including:
· Co-hosting a 2020 meeting on Advancing Constitutional Economic, Social, and Equal Rights: Supporting Collaborative Work Across Settings, in Naivasha, Kenya. Attendees included senior leadership spanning more than 20 organizations and 5 continents, including constitutional court justices, civil society, movement builders, and change advocates.
· Co-hosting a 2019 meeting on Advancing the Realization of the Right to Education and Work for Persons with Disabilities in Africa: A Consultative Workshop and Knowledge-Sharing Event in Nairobi, Kenya. This participatory knowledge-sharing event convened over 40 extraordinary leaders and advocates from organizations of persons with disabilities, policymakers, and civil society leaders across 12 African countries, including members of the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
