Around the world, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, gender diverse, queer, and intersex people face violence and discrimination based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and sex characteristics. These substantial barriers to LGBTQI+ community members’ sociocultural and economic inclusion impede their ability to exercise the same human rights as their fellow citizens in education, employment, civil recognition of their relationships and gender identities, and other key aspects of their lived experience.
The WORLD Policy Analysis Center has analyzed labor legislation, constitutional texts, and other sources for all 193 UN member states to create globally comparative data relevant to the equal rights of LGBTQI+ people in employment and public life.
